1/3/2022Suspension of play

Good day everyone,

I hope this email finds you well.

As you are aware the Quebec government reintroduce a curfew and as a result indoor sports and recreation activities have been suspended.   We will keep you posted to any further developments as they come to light.

Thank you,

8/18/2021Start of 2021 Hockey Season Delayed

Hello Gentlemen,

I hope this note finds you both safe and healthy.

I know we are all eager to get the hockey season started in September.  Unfortunately, the start to the season will be delayed due to the Arena being designated as a COVID center.   The city has informed us to anticipate a possible return sometime between November -  January (as discussions between the City and Government continue to evolve).    On a side note, the city did attempt to secure ice time in an another location for us but was not successful.

We realise that this news may lead to some of you deciding to play in other hockey leagues as things get sorted out with our City Arena and that is perfectly understandable.  Should anyone who has an outstanding credit wish to receive their refund,  please let me know and we will make the necessary arrangements with you.    If not, rest assured that any outstanding credit is accounted for and will be carried over into the new hockey season.

We will keep you informed of a return to play once we hear from the City.   Until then please continue to stay health and safe.

Thank you

Pino

10/7/2020Suspended Hockey Season

Good evening gentlemen,

following yesterday's Quebec Government announcement, we received the official notification from the City of Montreal suspending our hockey season effective Friday October 8th to October 28th inclusively.

We will keep you posted to any further developments as they are announced to us.

Thank you for your understanding and support in this matter.

On behalf of the entire Board of Directors please stay healthy & safe!

3/14/2020Suspension of Play

To all Members,

in light of the ongoing developments resulting from the COVID-19  the League Board of Directors have unanimously agreed to pause our hockey season for a 2 week period effective this Friday.    We are all touched by what is taking place locally and abroad and it is this connectivity that makes this a question of time before it arrives close to home and as such we must take the necessary precautions.    Please keep in mind that there are potentially thousands of people flowing through our arena either through 1st level, 2nd level & 3rd level contact (not physically there but interacted with the persons who visited the arena) let alone our own daily interaction of some of our members who are in a business domain.   As a result of this rationale we agreed to pause for a 2 week period at which point we will re-evaluate.

I realize that this is not pleasant for anyone and we would all much rather be playing hockey Friday nights but there is no point in subjecting ourselves to playing any type of odds when it comes to safety regardless of the numbers.

As I am drafting this message Montreal has just announced to close all municipal arenas, libraries, pools, and sports centers.   We will keep you posted to any further developments as they come to light.

Thank you for your understanding and support in this matter.

Pino

10/28/2017Post-Game Handshake

Good afternoon gentlemen,

There have been a few incidents observed during the post-game handshake that the league board would like to address and remind all its members of the following;

As you may recall last season we issued the following mission statement “Provide a leisure and recreational hockey venue that is both Safe and Fun” as our guiding principle.

The above said, we all know that without an apposing team, we could not play the game that we love and there is nothing better than a close, hard-fought game.   However, these are also the type of games that get the most tense (during & after) and, at times, lead to some confrontations, poor acts of sportsmanship, disrespect, or simply the perceived lack of sincerity in the process.

It takes a character to do your best, fall a little short and congratulate the victor with dignity and grace.   So at the very least solid eye-contact, a firm handshake, accompanied by a sincere "Thank You!" might be in order to show each other that respect at the end and realize that everything that’s happened is just because they brought out the best in everyone’s game including your own.

In conclusion anyone found to be disrespectful during the game and/or during the post-game handshake regardless of the situation will be dealt with by the board and it’s disciplinary community as this is not the type of league we are.

Just play the game, have fun and be safe as we are all friends!

Best Regards,

Pino

3/22/2017potential” delay to the start of the scheduled gam

Good evening gentlemen,

We received notification from l’ arena Martin-Brodeur that there “may” be a “potential” delay to the start of the scheduled games this upcoming Friday March 24th 2017.  A Junior AAA game is taking place that evening and should that game go into overtime a slight delay to the start of our games will occur.     That said, all players are asked to show up for their respective games, as they would normally do, as there is no way of knowing if a delay will occur.

Best Regards

Pino

2/25/2017April 21st, 2017 Games Rescheduled

Good day gentlemen,

We received notification from l’ arena Martin-Brodeur that a tournament (Coup Dodge) is scheduled to occur on April 21st, 2017 which will delay the start of our scheduled games that night.   Due to the arena not being able to guarantee a reasonable delay to our start times we have decided to cancel the April 21st, 2017 game and add a May 5th, 2017 game night to our schedule.

Modifications to our hockey schedule have been made in order to reflect this change and are appearing on our web-site.

Please be guided by the schedule that appears on our website for all games.

Best Regards,

Pino

2/25/2017League rule 2.3 PLAYER INABILITY TO PLAY HOCKEY

Good day gentlemen,

We have been receiving a growing number of absences occurring after the 48-hour notification requirement period.  Some of the absences have been deemed as non-emergency and the league should have received a well in advance absence notification.

In all candidness and transparency, the additional $20.00 being collected from replacement players does not benefit the league in any way when we consider the enormous work effort, team roster calibrations and overall spirit of the game.

In addition to the above, a league review of absence occurrences throughout this and previous seasons will occur prior to the start of the new season in order to assess the participation levels of our members.

The above said, please be guided by the established 2.3 PLAYER INABILITY TO PLAY HOCKEY rule as it is being applied as stipulated.

Thank you all for your understanding an continued support.

2.3 PLAYER INABILITY TO PLAY HOCKEY

  • A 48-hour notice must be supplied to the league member responsible for spares in order to ensure an appropriate replacement be found.
  • Text messages received after 6pm on the Thursday of a game week will result in a $20.00 fee attributed to the player (if deemed by the league as being a non- emergency absence). In addition, the team risks being a player short for that game.
  • Failure to notify the absence will result in a $20.00 fee attributable to the player.
  • Failure to pay any attributed fees by the player is subject to a suspension and/or explosion from the league.
  • Players will not receive any credits or reimbursements for games missed or as a result of an injury or expulsion from the league.
